As of Fall 2025, the following education and training pathways are available to students enrolled in an approved BHSS program:
- Earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, behavioral healthcare or related field from a Washington State college or university approved by the Department of Health to offer the BHSS specialization. This option will be available through BHSS Clinical Training Program education partners.
- Apply to the post baccalaureate certificate program available through Eastern Washington University, or contact an approved program to determine coursework requirements to meet DOH criteria.
As of Fall 2025, the following education and training pathway is under development:
- Earn a bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, behavioral healthcare or related field that includes a registered apprenticeship combined with a bachelor’s degree.
Additional post-baccalaureate programs may become available in the future. Since 45 quarter credits of baccalaureate training from an approved program are required, for some, a graduate degree in counseling, social work, psychology or marriage and family therapy, might make more sense in terms of time investment. Graduate programs range between 48-90 quarter credits.
