The development and implementation of BHSS Clinical Training Programs involves engagement from partners statewide and across a wide range of settings and disciplines.
Educational Institutions
By partnering with educational institutions around the state, we will ensure students are educated and trained where they are most likely to live and work. One priority is to partner with education institutions in federally designated behavioral health workforce shortage regions of the state.
Current partnerships include:
- Centralia College, BS in Behavioral Healthcare
- Eastern Washington University, BS in Health Psychology or BA in Psychology
- Evergreen College, BA in Psychology
- Lake Washington Institute of Technology, BS in Behavioral Healthcare
- Spokane Falls Community College, Bachelor of Applied Science in Integrated Behavioral Health
- University of Washington Tacoma, BA in Social Welfare
Other Washington universities and colleges, both public and private, have expressed interest in adopting the BHSS clinical training program. We look forward to future partnerships with these institutions.
Advisory and Affiliate Contributors
Advisory and affiliate contributors include psychiatry, family medicine, nursing, psychology, counseling, social work, state legislative representatives and policy leaders.
Workforce Development Initiatives
Introducing the new Behavioral Health Support Specialist role in Washington is one solution of many to increase access to behavioral health services and expand the behavioral health workforce.
The Ballmer Group has funded other initiatives to complement this effort:
- Washington State Behavioral Health Workforce Development Initiative (WDI) (University of Washington School of Social Work)
- Healthcare Apprenticeship Consortium (SEIU Healthcare 1199NW Multi-Employer Training and Education Fund)
